| Shad is all grown
up now, and has taken his place as my daughter Shanna's riding mount. A
visitor favorite, he is NOT FOR SALE as he
does belong to Shanna and it would be a fight to the finish to try and pry
him away from her. (My money is on Shanna - she's little but she's
tough!!) She is a member of the SCA and does sword fights and lance work
from his back. In 2004 she was attempting to stab styrofoam pigs with her
lance. Shad took exception to the sound and spooked, causing her to tumble
from his back. Her medieval garb got tangled around her leg, resulting in
a broken ankle. As she lay fallen, he had a clear path to flee, but he
refused to leave her, crowding in past the people surrounding her and
attempting to nuzzle and comfort her. |
