After 4 weeks of searching, I
am please to report that DA Elusive Melody is safely
back home. She decided to "go walkabout" and left no forwarding address. We
searched the property (all of it) for a downed horse, a body, or a bad smell. We contacted
the Sheriff, the local Brand Inspectors & the Humane Society. We posted notices,
thinking someone might have "rescued" her. No luck. Due to the traffic patterns
of horse riders in this area we concentrated our efforts going South and West - she was
spotted by hunters & cattlemen due North, by about 10 miles from home. We rode for
several days - through beautiful but rocky country, before we finally located her. She is
now confined to the barn until she gets her new freeze brand on her backside so that she
has a "return address" in case she gets an itch to wander again. To further
appreciate this story, you need to remember that Melody is the filly that got her knee
broken into 5 pieces last year.

Destiny
Arabians has welcomed 3 new foals in 1999. On May 28 we welcomed this year's filly by DB
Destiny Moniet and out of Chevence RSI. She is chestnut - of Sheykh Obeyd, Pure Egyptian
& Al Khamsa bloodlines. DA Lady Ladera made her show
debut at the All Arabian Country Classic, and forgot how to lead. Maybe next year.
Next up was a bay colt born June 6th to Sonyet X E Jinta. He is a unique color, possibly
due to the flaxen chestnut color of his dam. He is Straight Egyptian & Al Khamsa.
Finally, on June 21st a handsome bay colt was born to Sonyet X DA Royal Damia. Both boys
are spoken for, and went to their new home at weaning time. He is Straight Egyptian
& Al Khamsa. They will be joined in his new home by DA Prince Kashmir - (Hyksos X Bint
Sakara)

Destiny Arabians stallion Hyksos has been purchased by Jeannie Simpson of Kuna, Idaho. He is
now an "only stallion" and loves all the attention he is getting.

September 12, 1998 was a red letter day when two of the 1998 foals from Destiny Arabians took first and second
place at the 4th Annual Idaho All Arabian Country Classic Horse Show in Caldwell, Idaho in
the Weanling and Yearling IN HAND TRAIL Class in a class of 9. DA Meggans Magic was in first place, handled by her new
owner, Dianna Cotters, closely followed in second place by DA Tajab'ala, handled
by Shanna Harmon. Some of the obstacles to be navigated were poles, loading in to a
strange (brand new and stinky) horse trailer, crossing a bridge, retrieving the mail and
leaping a small jump. The judge told us later that these two were "a country mile
ahead of the rest of the class." The two foals were shown at 5 and 2 months of age
and made a great impression at the show.

Shanna is starting Dymocenta RSI under saddle for Jan
Sorrell. On July 5th we took her to a cattle gather and branding - her first introduction
to cows. Lady Dy thought it was great that they would run from her - and pinned her ears
and pursued - both on her own and under saddle. This was her 10th time under saddle!
One of the ladies at the branding commented
on how agressive Lady Dy was to the cattle. Her complimentary comment was "She has
cow in her." I assured her that Lady Dy was actually a very well-bred Arabian with no
"bovine" in her pedigree anywhere.

Did you hear about the fellow
who went to his veterinarian
to get a "hippo" shot for his pregnant mare?
